One day during the winter, when the first spring wind was strongly shaking naked trees, I was looking at the skies whose sizes were changing when seen from within the wood, which was located in front of my house and it looked as if it might have been an isolated island.

Copperplate Prints: 'Drawing'


I cast my fishing line slowly into the river where there are no rippling waves. Slowly drawing an arc, the line connects the tip of the extended rod to the invisible world. Whenever I thrust a steel needle into the surface of a mirror-like copperplate, I recall again this scene that I so often experienced in those far off days.

A Thought on Observing Time” - After the 11 March 2011 earthquake–

I have made a series of works [ A Thought on Observing Time ] since 2003. There are object works and drawings. The theme has been the life cycle of plants. Now I have embarked on a new project called “crisis of life”. This is because of the large amount of radiation from the Fukushima nuclear power plant after March 11, 2011 .
